About eMPWR

MPWR Magazine is a Detroit-based global media and culture brand built around the belief that the cultures, identities, and lives of women of color deserve to be the headline. The brand was founded to fill a gap that has always existed: a publication that treats women of color not as a demographic to check off but as the subject, the author, and the audience.

The target audience is women of color ages 21 to 40 who are culturally connected, politically aware, and intentional about the media they consume. They follow independent creators, support women-owned brands, attend cultural events, and are deeply invested in representation across fashion, art, and storytelling. They are not looking for surface-level diversity. They want depth, research, and a brand that leads with their world without flattening it.

Every campaign eMPWR produces is rooted in cultural research, built with a distinct visual identity, and executed with an all-women creative team. The brand voice is feminist, direct, and advocacy-driven. It speaks like the sister who knows what is right, fights for what she believes in, and brings people together in the process. The visual language is bold and unapologetic, anchored in hot magenta and chartreuse, and designed to be impossible to ignore. eMPWR is not chasing a trend. It is building a movement.

Visual Identity

eMPWR's visual identity is bold, vibrant, and unapologetically alive. Hot magenta and chartreuse are the primary colors, two colors that demand attention and refuse to be ignored. Accent shades of teal, periwinkle, white, and black give the brand room to be both expressive and editorial depending on the context. Typography leads with Abril Display Italic for headers, grounded by Poppins Bold and Poppins Regular for body text. Every design decision reflects the brand's core tension: feminine and fierce, celebratory and critical, soft and loud all at once.

Brand Deck

The eMPWR Brand Guidelines document is the blueprint for everyone who works with this brand. It covers our mission, our audience, our brand codes, and our voice. eMPWR speaks like the sister who knows what is right, educates without lecturing, and advocates without asking for permission. Our duo tone photography treatment, Behind the Photo graphic system, cover selection criteria, and content pillars are all documented here so that every collaborator, photographer, writer, and contributor understands not just what eMPWR looks like but what it stands for and how it moves through the world.

Brand in Use

These mockups show eMPWR living in the physical world. A street billboard that stops you mid-step. A print issue you can hold. Merch that carries the brand wherever it goes. Every touchpoint is designed to feel as intentional as the editorial work behind it. The visual identity was built to scale and these concepts prove it translates across every surface it lands on.
